Abstract

Work-related stress amongst teachers is a phenomenon associated with the pedagogical, administrative and socio-emotional demands inherent in the profession, the intensity of which may be linked to the conditions of the organisational environment. The aim of the study was to analyse the relationship between work-related stress and organisational climate amongst teachers at an educational institution in Ecuador during the 2025–2026 academic year. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational study was conducted, with a census sample of 35 teachers from the morning and afternoon sessions. Work-related stress was assessed using the ED-6 scale, and organisational climate using the Koys and DeCotiis questionnaire, adapted by Chiang et al. The data were analysed in SPSS v.26 using descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation and simple linear regression. The results revealed a significant inverse relationship between the two variables, with higher levels of stress linked to pressure and anxiety. At the dimensional level, the associations between work pressure and organisational pressure stood out, as did the inverse relationships between stress and support, recognition and trust. The organisational climate accounted for a significant proportion of the variability in stress levels. It is concluded that favourable institutional conditions can contribute to teachers’ well-being, although other personal and work-related factors also play a role.
